Feeding Guide:

Captive Birds:

  • Use this diet as the maintenance food for captive lorikeets, lories, and honeyeaters.
  • Feeding: Feed according to suggested amounts to avoid overfeeding, which can cause obesity.
  • Hot Weather: In hot weather, ensure fresh food is provided in the morning and evening to prevent spoilage.
  • Supplementing with Fresh Water: Offer fresh water, fruit, and blossom daily.
  • For Breeding Birds: Increase the feed by 30% and supplement with Insectivore Rearing Mix or Finch Soft Food.

Supplementing Wild Birds:

  • Feeding Stations: Set up an elevated feeding station, ensuring food is provided in a shallow, glazed bowl.
  • Ration: Limit the daily feed to no more than 10mL per lorikeet or 5mL per honeyeater to avoid dependency.
  • Cleaning: Remove the feeding bowl daily and thoroughly clean to prevent disease transmission and predator access.
  • Alternative: Instead of direct feeding, plant native shrubs and provide fresh water as an alternative.
