Thanks for wanting to learn more about the great people behind Parrot Supplies Australia!
As a complete Not-For-Profit store, with all of our excess funds going to support The Parrot Society of Australia and The Parrot Trust of Australia, we are largely made up of Members who Volunteer their own time. We do, however, have a full-time employee who works in the store every Tuesday through to Saturday.
If you'd like to get in touch, feel free to send us an enquiry.
After growing up with a few small birds, and a cheeky Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo, Alisha decided a few years ago that she really wanted another Parrot.
Through a friend of the family, she was gifted a Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo called Ollie. Alisha lived around the area of the old store, in Marsden, and of course had to stop in there to check out all the things I could buy for my new feathered friend.
This sparked Alisha's volunteering journey with Parrot Supplies Australia. A decade on, Alisha has taken up full-time employment with us, and has been instrumental in establishing Parrot Supplies Australia.
After a brief stint in breeding with a few different species, she found her heart lies in rescues. Alisha now provides a home for a variety of birds, mostly with special needs. Her feathered family now consists of Ollie the Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo, Evy the Scarlet Macaw, Scatch the Cockatiel, Beaker the Rainbow Lorikeet, Layla the Musk Lorikeet, and most recently her new friend Charlie the Eclectus.
In her own words "I have always loved being at the store, surrounded by bird people, who all share in the passion of parrots and birds! I look forward to learning more and more as Parrot Supplies Australia continues to expand and grow".
Katie has been part of The Parrot Society of Australia since 2013, and sits on their Management Committee as the AviTrade Officer. Katie is responsible for the coordination on AviTrade, both in the Parrot News publication and online.
Katie has also been a dedicated volunteer over the last five years. She is also an advocate for parrot conservation, and companion bird ownership. Whilst she doesn't currently have a flock of her own, she plans on changing that!
You can catch Katie down at Parrot Supplies Australia a few days a week!
Martin has been a Member of The Parrot Society of Australia since 1992! In that time he's sat on the Management Committee, and volunteered a lot of time to the Society and Parrot Supplies Australia.
Martin is also the President of The Beenleigh Bird Breeders Club.
As an avid bird keeper, Martin has a number of different Exotic and Native bird species. He is also passionate about colour mutations, and avian genetics. One of his current areas of focus is the breeding and conservation of Golden-Shouldered Parrots in Australia.
A goal for Martin is to see more kids becoming involved in Aviculture.
You can catch Martin down at Parrot Supplies Australia every Wednesday!
Pauline has volunteered with Parrot Supplies Australia for some time, and has been a part of The Parrot Society of Australia for some time.
Her passion is hand-rearing, and focuses on Alexandrine Parrots, Indian Ringnecks, Cockatiels, Budgerigars, and Conures. Her favourite bird is the Alexandrine.
She also breeds a variety of birds, including Cockatiels, Budgerigars, Green-Cheeked Conures, Indian Ringnecks, Alexandrines, and Blue-Fronted Amazons.
Jonty is our fresh-faced Volunteer, joining us in 2017 to expand his knowledge of bird keeping, and gain some great work experience in Retail.
Jonty currently has an Indian Ringneck, Green-Cheeked Conure, and a Cockatiel. His dream bird species is an African Grey! In the future, he hopes to be involved with keeping more of the Conure species, and possibly partake in bird breeding.
You can catch Jonty down at Parrot Supplies Australia most Fridays and Saturdays!
